About the ART IN THE OFFICE Program

Monex, Inc. started the ART IN THE OFFICE program in 2008 as part of its social and cultural activities with an aim to support emerging contemporary artists. The program seeks applications from artists of works to install on the wall of the press conference room, within Monex`s new headquarters in Kojimachi. The winner is given a cash award and production fee. The program is run in cooperation with the nonprofit art organization, Arts Initiative Tokyo.

Tomoko Fukushi Profile

Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School (Ph.D.) in 2005 and created abstract paintings in her earlier career. Recently, she works using white boards, permanent markers, and magnets in the style of Japanese manga. By using words with double meanings Fukushi welcomes multiple interpretations of her works, while expressing the ambiguity of the society we live in today. Winner of the grand prize at "SICF 12" (2011) organized by the cultural facilities complex, SPIRAL. For the "Street Painting Project", exhibited work "Look, Look at me Don't Look" (2011-1012) on the temporary enclosure around the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre.
