Over 10 years have passed since the establishment of Monex in the spring of 1999, as a venture company with a strong wish to "create the future of finance."
Now, under the command of Monex Group, Inc., (listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange; security code: 8698) the holding company and operations center of the Group, the company has since gone on to become a major online financial services group with a family of subsidiaries as well as overseas bases including a local company in the United States and a resident office in Beijing.
Subsidiaries include Monex, Inc., Japan's leading online securities brokerage and the core of our Group; investment management firm Monex Alternative Investments, Inc.; Monex Hambrecht, Inc., which offers M&A advisory & OpenIPO; Monex University, Inc., which offers investment-based education; Monex FX, Inc. specializing in FX; and Trade Science Corporation that conducts R&D on state-of-the-art financial engineering.
In the start-up period, Monex offered a secure, fast and high-level trading platform at a much cheaper fee than before, and in the following 10 years, has continually developed and offered investment products such as stock lending, night-time trading, hedge funds, managed funds, and robot managed funds.
This year, in the 11th year and also the start of a new decade, the core company, Monex, Inc., will strive to become "Japan's number-one online securities company in quality and size" by further enhancing products and services.
In addition, the Company plans to put further efforts towards overseas business developments, starting with the rapidly-growing Chinese market.
The past 10 years is already the past, and the emphasis lies on what kind of innovative and valuable services we can develop and provide to our customers as of now. What kind of new shareholders value we can offer without being caught up in the past, or within Japan, and how will we act as a trigger in the livening of our country's market. The objective of our Group is to stand up as a financial group that represents the future of Japan, and as a financial venture company made in Japan, towards the world.
